Originally recorded during the Humanz sessions, this track off of Kali's debut major label album, Isolation, has phase 4 Gorillaz ALL OVER IT. It sound very Gorillaz, which makes me wonder what Gorillaz would've sounded like if Dan and Koala stayed with the project. Yet again the OG phase 1 Gorillaz crew returns along with rapper Casual, this time for Delteon's second album, 2013's Event 2.
"What Is This Lonliness?" - Deltron 3030: It's Just Damon with some strings, it's very Gorillaz. Slow and eerie acoustic guitar along with a beautiful string section, gives this song a strange likeliness to another Plastic Beach song, Cloud Of Unknowing. This song was originally intended for Plastic Beach, and can even be heard in the opening scenes of the Making Of Plastic Beach documentary. Dee, which Damon wrote and performed the entire soundtrack for. This song was Featured in the musical, Dr. Both Martina and Manuva were featured on the Gorillaz song "All Alone", further cementing this rarity as an unofficial Gorillaz song. The song features a rap from Roots Manuva (from the original recording sessions), and a more flushed out instrumental/production by Gorillaz (minus the badass bassline). This b-side from Martina's single, Poison, is a completed version of a song that was originally written during the Demon Days sessions known as "Snakes & Ladders". With and eerie likeliness to Clint Eastwood, this song sounds almost exactly like phase 1 Gorillaz. This song contains Dan and Koala's production, Damons vocals and melodica, and a badass rap from Del. One year before the S/T was released, Dan, Koala, and Del The Funky Homosapian (Clint Eastwood/Rock The House) released the debut self-titled Delteon 3030 album. The masterminds behind the OG phase 1 Gorillaz were Damon Albarn and Dan The Automator (along with his studio buds like Kid Koala). It's literally the demo for Tomorrow Comes Today. Damon expressed that this is when he really started to experiment with his music like he eventually would in Gorillaz. There are a handful of songs out there that are so closely connected to the project that even though they're not Officially Gorillaz songs, they might asĪccording to Damon, this track from Blur's self-titled album is the VERY FIRST GORILLAZ SONG.
